A short drive to the Catskills and a Saturday stroll along the Ashokan Reservoir Promenade.
Wildflowers growing in the cracks of the dam.
The reservoir provides 40% of New York City’s water. Access is prohibited.
It’s a steep drop on the other side.
We didn’t see any bald eagles but we did see a cormorant and this fawn still had some spots.

So beautiful. I miss upstate New York!
Gorgeous!
Glorious!
“Cracks in the dam” Surely that’s never a good thing? But if that’s where you are living now it’s very beautiful.
I should have written: “cracks in the promenade” which is above the dam. And yes it is close to where I am now and yes it is beautiful and just a short trip from NYC.
I hope those “Wildflowers growing in the cracks of the dam” aren’t the only thing holding the dam together!
Had the same thought. But the dam looks pretty solid and this way above the water line.
Beautiful views! And the rusty drain is very interesting…
as is the weld across the Monitor Well cover!
Yes. Agreed. Do not…pull?
