First there was an intensive and interdisciplinary study of Ghana and West Africa including geography, science, history, literature and art. Then there was the division-wide theater presentation based on folktales. The trip to the Bronx Zoo was the end point of a close animal and ecology study where each student became an expert. And then there was the African drumming and dancing food festival last Friday.
Above you can see one of the 3rd and 4th grade classes preparing to take off on the trip – reviewing routines to ensure a safe and exciting trip to the zoo. Weeks of work prepared them for the adventure.
Below you can see a section of the audience (the cameras were out in force) and a picture of a moment in one of the dance performances led Nancy Judson to the sound of the student drums led by Paul Beretta.
And then there was the feast!
