The sixth annual Science Symposium meant 7th and 8th graders ready to share their work with the school community. As always – an impressive display of investigation, collaborative work and erudition. These students know their work and why it matters. And they are more than happy to share their research.
In a new departure this year, the 5th and 6th grades were part of the expo. The 5th grade presented their “Simple Machines” – Rube Goldberg devices demonstrating kinetic and potential energy combined with gravitational pull tied together with string and wire. Marbles, blocks, cardboard tubes, clothes pegs, dominoes of horror movies and a blue plastic severed hand were all pressed into service.
The sixth grade had their programmed robots on display and on mission, including one accomplished mechanical ballet.
